Build on the sand, together.

Beachs lays a shared grid on the beach. Drop a castle, a court, or a cleanup flag, and the people next to you see the same cells. Your phone places the grid. The network only keeps the result.

One grid for the stretch of sand you are standing on.

  1. The first phone sets the origin

AR tracking and GPS drop a local anchor. That anchor is the corner the rest of the grid grows from.

  2. Everyone else lines up to it

Join with a code or by standing in the same spot. The next day, the last anchor reloads and a nudge corrects drift.

  3. Shapes snap. Claims do not overlap.

A castle can cover many cells. Offset and skew stay inside a limit. A cell already claimed cannot be taken twice.

What you put on the sand

The same placement tools cover builds, courts, and debris. Tide color is one read for the whole grid.

  • Castles and keeps

A starter catalog of castles, moats, islands, and simple geometry. Burial depth shows only the slice that should stick out of the sand.

  • Courts, lines only

Volleyball and spikeball draw lines. They stay off the builds list.

  • Cleanup flags

Mark debris on a cell. Someone else marks it cleared, and the flag drops.

  • Tide color

Green is a safe window, yellow is rising water or wind, red means the tide is about to take the build.

The phone does the spatial work.

Spotty beach signal should not stop a build. Beachs keeps the decisions on the device and syncs the record later.

  • On the phone

Grid snap, collision, local ranking, status roll-up, surf votes, and lining the grid back up with the anchor.

  • On the sync

Spaces, team membership, the final footprint, and history. The newest device-computed state wins.

  • Local mode

Build on this phone only. Nothing is published until you choose to share it with a team.

  • Teams

Public nearby, or private by code. If the leader leaves, the role moves to the person who has been there longest.

Questions

Can I install Beachs now?

Not yet. Beachs is in development and is not in the App Store or on Google Play. The project name in the repository is BeachX.

Does it work with no signal?

Local mode is built for that. The catalog and the grid stay on the phone. Publishing to a team waits until you have a connection and you choose to share.

What does it store about where I am?

The phone uses location to place the grid. A space id includes a coarse geohash, about a few tens of meters, so the next person in that spot finds the same space. The sync is meant to keep the space, the team, and the footprint, not a trail of where you walked.

Who is building it?

Beachs is an Apphaus project. Write to hello@apphaus.us or read the privacy notes.
